Report

The game started evenly with Inter and Lions having their fair share of chances in the opening exchanges, Inter began to get a foothold in the game and won a throw deep into the Lions half, taken quickly the ball found an unmarked player 25 yards out who fired past Tyler in the goal. Lions upped the pressure and went searching for the equaliser with Simpson and Troke going close, Adam hughes was unlucky when a well hit shot cannoned of the crossbar, 10 minutes before the half Inter doubled their lead from an inswinging corner, the cross caught Tyler out and his front post and although he got a hand to the ball he was powerless to stop the ball going in.

HT 2-0

Lions come out fighting in the second half and when Simpson found some space 20 yards out he did what he does best and fired a low drive into the corner, immediately from the restart Inter played an unopposed lofted ball forward which wasn't dealt with by the Lions defence and allowed the centre forward in to restore the 2 goal advantage. This didn't knock Lions and they piled the pressure on, Coles worked the keeper from distance with a half volley which was pushed over the bar brilliantly and from the resulting corner Wood went close with a header, they then again closed the gap when Lloyd James fired his 4th of the season past the goalkeeper after some good individual work, with 10 mins left on the clock Inter widened the gap further with a superb volley from the left hand side of the area that sailed over Tyler who could do nothing about a good goal. Lions showed their true spirit in the closing stages, with 3 mins left on the clock and a slight change in formation pushing Richard Wood into the midfield they won a throw deep into the Inter half, Coles launched the ball into the area to Kieran Harris who flicked the ball onto skipper Lewis Fryer to leap and head the ball into the net for his first of the season. with the game firmly in the hands of Lions and time ticking down they went searching for the winner and this come from top goalscorer Conor Simpson, Wood picked the ball up in centre midfield and carried it 15 yards before slotting through to Simpson to finish neatly and secure the 3 pts for Lions. Man of the match went to the outstanding Tom Fryer at centre back.
