This Sunday saw Charlton’s Simon Hodges approach Sittingborne Lion’s manager Trevor Smith for a friendly match to enable Charlton’s newly formed side to gain vital match experience.
The first 45 minutes saw Lions keeping most of the possession, with good communication and strong pressuring, rewarded Lions with a 4.0 lead through Christian Taenas, Liam Smith, Gareth Wareham & Tristan Hix.
In the 2nd half Charlton started well. Playing with more grit & determination, creating many chances, but the more experienced Lions went on to score two more goals, one from Matthew Christian and a 2nd personal from Christian Taenas. Despite the score Charlton continued to battle well and were rewarded in the 63rd minute when Tyrone Shaw breached the Lions defence and went on to finish proudly.
Lions manager said “ Charlton have created a well disciplined side with many skilful players“. He added “It takes many hours of match play to strengthen player awareness and communication so vital for team performance”. he also said “On behalf of Sittingbourne Lions JFC I would like to wish Charlton every success in their future games”.
